Gather single layers of fabric in all fabric types. The slot of the foot allows the gathering of one piece of fabric while it is being attached to another (un-gathered) layer. A ruffle can be made and attached in one operation
The amount of gathering can be adjusted by varying stitch length and needle thread tension
For heavier fabrics, the use of the long stitch or basting stitch will facilitate gathering
The distance between rows of gathering ranges from a minimum of 3/16" (5mm) to a maximum of 3/8" (10mm)
For applications where exact control of the gathering ratio is required, consider the use of BF86.
